Biography

What do you love about serving with The Emiliani Project?

Being born and raised in Colombia, I have seen firsthand the extremely high percentage of
children who do not have access to basic necessities such as food, housing, education and
healthcare. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity through The Emiliani Project to help those in
need for the opportunity of a second chance at life, providing food, clothing, shelter, education,
protection and a loving environment for them to become productive members of society.

Since 2013, working with The Emiliani Project has been personally impacting in ways that I
could never imagine before. Helping others in need has been such an enriching and
reciprocating experience; when you think you are helping make a difference in the lives of those
we serve, you realize they are making a difference in your own life as well. Providing education
and protection to children is the best way to solve the social problems that exist and in turn, will
make this world a better place.

An interesting fact about yourself?

I live in Medellin, Colombia. I am a retired lawyer who worked in corporate law for construction
development companies. I have been married for 27 years and am the mother of three: one son
and two daughters…and two dogs! I am a dog lover and an avid supporter of animal rights.
Before my knee injury, I was a devoted and enthusiastic long distance runner. I have
participated in several marathons and half marathons. I enjoy traveling throughout the world
with my family and learning from other cultures.
